Palin throws Alaska into constitutional crisis

But hey, don't worry, she won't let politics get in the way of her upholding the U.S. Constitution.

Honest.

Comments (20)

60,000 people reportedly went to see her speak in Florida today. Bah! I bet the party trumped up those numbers. If they didn't, the crowd must have only gone to catch a local cheeky folk rock band that opened for her.

She's drawing numbers in Anchorage as well.

Maybe Obama should call in Cher.

My favorite Palin bit currently is adopting the tactic of publicly welcoming investigations and then disregarding the subpoena.

I thought you got punished for disregarding subpoenas. Well, not if it happens to republicans, I guess.

I know what subpoena means. I wonder what "under no particular threat of anything" renders in Latin.

Forget it, Sam -- it's Alaska.

Indeed. Point taken.

You guys are really worried that your gaffe machine is losing the election to a woman.
Priceless!

Right on,Mike

By gaffe machine, do you mean John "The fundamentals of the economy are strong" McCain?

I hear McCain won't rule out naming Phil "I might just be responsible for the collapse of the world economy" Gramm as Treasury Secretary.

Oh yeah........

Polls Show Palin Is Starting to Drag Down McCain, By Markos Moulitsas, Daily Kos, September 19, 2008.

The intense focus to reveal the truth about Sarah Palin's credentials has taken its toll on her numbers.

My friends, he was tortured for five years.

During all that time, he would have loved to have been able to make a gaffe or name a Reagan-era supply-side fossil as secretary of the treasury.

But he couldn't.

Credentials?

If you're 35 or older, breathing, have lived in the USA for 14 years, and are a "natural-born citizen", that's all it takes to be President.

What are the credentials required for veep?

Upholding what U.S. Constitution? Every one of these crises including Katrina involves a massive executive-branch power grab. The selling point is, "This crisis is very scary. Unless you hand over your freedoms, it could get really bad for you."

The language in this bail-out proposal is perfect for our little barracuda from the north:

"Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency."

Fascism anyone?

The MAN weighs in. When he says "sources" he most definitely does NOT mean dailyKos. Madsen's idea of 'sources' is likely to be the kids and/or the husband ... you know, like at the source. The MAN speaks in facts.

Right on schedule, too, which predicted it would come on Sept.20.

Palin faked pregnancy says former Republican stalwart in Wasilla.

Bloomberg just got a headline today (September 22) The story is: How the Democrats Created the Financial Crisis

Here's a link:
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=newsarchive&sid=aSKSoiNbnQY0

This is the end for the DEMOCRATS.
IT'S OVER.

"How the Democrats Created the Financial Crisis", written by Kevin Hassett, who is an advisor to. . . (wait for it). . . Senator John McCain.

Thanks LM, for that objective source.

LawnMower conveniently forgets to mention that the "story" he links to is just that: a "story" written by a McCain campaign adviser. And the "story" omits the inconvenient truth that the McCain campaign has received FAR more in campaign contributions from the Fannie/Freddie crowd than the Obama campaign has.

The GOP loves to criticize "big government," except on the days when its Wall Street cronies have their hands in big government's pocket. Which, come to think of it, is just about every day.

McCain the great paternalist will not allow his cheerleader to be muzzled with an investigation. Rah Rah Sis Boom POW He's Our Hero Elect Him Now.

There is a pretty good rule of thumb, whenever teh McCain cmapaign accuses Obama of somethign we soon find out that they are actually the ones guilty of it.

Latest, they accuse Obama of being tight with the head of Fannie Mae because he once scheduled a meeting with Obama. We now find out that Rick Davis (McCain's campaign manager) was a lobbyist for 2 years for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac...

Democratic principles which are congruent with the dignity of labor, and contrary repudiating the decay and rot of riches, stand opposed to the constitutional corruptions caused by out-of-balance excesses. Standing opposed to the indecent riches of corrupted currency since the Fed.Rsrv. began, 1914, as evidenced (back then) by democratic Mark Twain disinheriting a "predatory eagle America" he saw, which coveted neighbor Cuba's land and bloodlusted its talons in the Philippines, murdering two million Filipinos and raping their resources, (not to mention a murderous century of wasteful feud and folly against Cuba).

And across a hundred years, democratic principles are the Movement against the dementing corruption of corrupting riches.

So we have the case of Eliot Spitzer and the Attorneys General of 50 States united early against Republican debasement and debauchery.

Spitzer Whacked For Warning Of Financial Crisis, Bush Fed.Rsrv. Targets Taxpayers

"Predatory Lenders' Partner in Crime: How the Bush Administration Stopped the States From Stepping In to Help Consumers," Feb. 14, 2008. Washington Post.

Several years ago, state attorneys general and others involved in consumer protection began to notice a marked increase in a range of predatory lending practices by mortgage lenders...These and other practices, we noticed, were having a devastating effect ....

Spitzer's omen went further to note that not only did the White House do nothing, it embarked on an aggressive and unprecedented campaign to prevent states from protecting their residents from the very problems to which the federal government was turning a blind eye after 50 state Attorneys General and many legislative attempts failed to halt the worst of the predatory ....

Spitzer ... left a final warning:

(Spitzer, cont.) When history tells the story of the subprime lending crisis and recounts its devastating effects on the lives of so many innocent homeowners, the Bush administration ... used the power of the federal government in an unprecedented assault on state legislatures, as well as on state attorneys general and anyone else on the side of consumers.
Spitzer warned us and was taken out.

--- end cite

One repercussion from that is John Kroger, trained beside and studying under Spitzer, came out of it to run for Oregon Atty.Gen. as a Democrat -- campaigning NOT on democratic principles to loudly side with consumers, NOT stoutly outspoken against predatory practices, NOT Spitzer-A.G. quality and anti-'bad bankers'; but rather cowed and terrorized by the Republican Bushbutchery attacks on Spitzer and regulatory public oversight.

For instance, his mainstay plank opposes public oversight that regulates and taxes 'drugs,' medically treating addictions, and he shrinks from prosecuting pharmeceutical privateering such as indicted in Deep Events and the CIA’s Global Drug Connection, by Peter Dale Scott, Global Research, September 19, 2008.

Just having constituted democratic principles, does not provide us principled Democratic candidates. That Party and too many of its elected ones are ever as much corrupt as the GOP and Republicans. Objection and complaint is due and aimed against the democratically disingenuous, self-superior persons; NOT against perpetual democratic principles.

Democratic principles remain virtuous and valid -- One World and love one another -- unbent by betrayers.
