I'm certain that Johnny spending 5 hrs a day with his eyes glued to the 42 incher has *nothing* to do with it.
Most american kids don't read because there parents don't read.
Some american kids are intellectually retarded because their hick jesus-freaks parents prize sports and hazing rituals above education.

And wasting over $170 million a year on proven failed Biligual programs has a lot to do with this also.
Vote Yes on Measure #58, English immersion only, just like AZ. CA. & MA.

He cant read because he is too busy idolizing rap retards like "Fitty Cent" and has absolutely no self respect.
And bilingual programs are not going anywhere when the feds give more money to schools for every kid kept in ESL. I know kids with Hispanic surnames that were put in ESL even though they speak perfect English.

Johnny can't read because they teach an ineffective reading program called 'whole language' which is just as ineffective as 'new math' and 'fuzzy math' is with mathematics. Johnny can't read because he is allowed to pass through grades even if he doesn't do homework or pass classes.

Johnny can't read because the TV is on. Period.
The TV is on because parenting is demoralized because the TV is on. Also because parents are floundering in an economic no-wage wasteland made of monied (corporate) corruption of government and vice versa.
I didn't find out why monied lawyers got million$ of school tax-dollars for nothing, because the investigative newspaper report naming names was more than I had time to read ... before the next show comes on.
