When biking to Wal-Mart

Wear underwear.

I'm annoyed when a retailer fails to have a bike rack, too. But my reaction is just not shop at such places. That's what you do when a retailer fails to meet your needs.

I bike and would love more bike racks - and not located in hidden areas where bike theft can take place. If I'm on a bike I don't take the chance and I won't go in.

That's what you do when a retailer fails to meet your needs - absolutely right. The article was obviously written by a pro-union person but that doesn't matter.

For now at least, people have choices. Heck - if something is at a good price even in a union store I'll go there - but they better have a rack!

I think I'm in love.

they better have a rack

You're talking about the biker in the sports bra, right?

But if you just don't shop there then how is there retailer supposed to know what the problem is? They will never know that you aren't shopping there because they don't have a bike rack.

Telling them the reason is very important if you want them to change and address the issue.

I think her reaction was priceless.

Yes, many Wal-Mart employees are probably pretty stupid. And their policies toward bicycles are more than a little hypocritical.

But if this woman had devoted as much attention to finding a sign or a bench outside that she could lock her bike to as she had confronting the store manager, she probably could have been in and out in ten minutes.

By the way, she is listed on this forum as a "junior member". I wonder what kind of antagonism a member has to engage in before he/she becomes a senior member.

But if you just don't shop there then how is the retailer supposed to know what the problem is?

When they start losing business to competitors who cater to the needs of bicylists, then they will get the message. In the meantime, I don't think they are being hurt too badly.
