I noted that the guy who is running to replace King says "he wants to bring back the union's 'once-powerful status', pledging to be more of an outspoken fighter for officers' rights".
The article is silent on exactly how the union could get any more powerful than it already is.

I got queasy whilst reading that. Can't he be "security consultant" somewhere else? That pays more, right?
Then again:
The ability to shoot unarmed suspects with impunity. . . . .priceless.
