A crying need

You know what we don't have enough of in Portland? "Multi-modal conceptual engineering."

Heck, even I can do "conceptual" engineering.

I think this means that ODOT would like to get an engineer's opinion on how close light rail can be run to Union Station.

The answer is that it can run right in front of Union Station, but the closest stop will be a block and a half away -- it's already under construction.

Sorry - I wrote ODOT instead of the City of Portland. Same basic idea.

"Multimodal conceptual engineering."

Wow, that's cutting-edge bureaucratic double-speak.

"Multimodal" has another meaning: it means that you have to change trains to get to wherever you're going.
