And who will be protecting the oil fields and the workers? Not only do we have high gas prices but as taxpayers we will be subsidizing the oil companies as our military forces will never leave until the oil is gone.
Meanwhile, we are losing the actual war against the people actually responsible for 9/11 in Afghanistan.
Let's face it: Bush doesn't care about actually fighting terrorism, he cares about people thinking he's fighting terrorism. What's worse, his sham has claimed thousands of lives. Given the sheer disrespect we've shown them, the "Support the troops" slogan has to be the biggest joke ever.
What is most appalling about this is that while the U.S. military is doing the heavy work especially cleaning up after the British & French colonial mess and has been for some decades around the globe we now have BP and Royal/Dutch Shell getting in on the deal. I'd like to know how much the House of Windsor holds in the stock of these two companies. Anyone have any idea as to how to find out?

Admit it, you already knew this would happen or at least suspected it.
Is all the hubbub about off-shore drilling designed to overshadow this news?

When we attacked the Phillipines and killed thousands until they capitulated, we promised: we're here to free you, we will not stay, you'll thank us later.
a century later, we're still there, occupying a major naval base, turning Subic Bay into a rest and refueling station.
when, i wonder, will Americans understand what "imperialism" means?

It was "Mission Accomplished" when most of the U.S. public lost interest in Iraq.

Ecohuman -
Try to stay current. Both Subic Bay and Clark Field are long long closed.

"nonnymouse",
i am current. the base is "officially" closed, but Subic remains a major rest and refueling port.
and never mind the damage done in the century prior to the 90's...right?

No, Ecohuman, we closed the U.S. Naval Station in Subic Bay in 1991.
But don't let that get in the way of your usual "Hate America" rant. They have always been entertaining.
Things slow around Reed student hall today?
