It's a girl

Congratulations to Portland City Council candidate Charles Lewis, who became a dad last week. Here he is with his wife Sarah and new daughter Coakley Anna Lewis. [Via Willamette Week.]

Jack,

Thanks for your posting! Both Sarah and Coakley are happy and healthy. We're not getting much sleep lately, but are enjoying our new family together.

Here's a photo of Coakley at 19 hours old:

More photos can be found on my Flickr account here:

(Can you tell I'm a proud papa?)

I hope all is well!

Charles

They named her Coakley???

Heaven help her.

Al,

Coakley is my wife's maiden name. I wanted to make sure we kept her name in the family somehow. Hopefully she won't be teased too much!

Charles

Charles,
Lots of parents do that, and I think most parents would have opted for Anna Coakley Lewis. Or if you're Latin American or Spanish, Anna Lewis Coakley.

Congratulations on the new arrival.

Good job proud dad!

I voted for you in the primary and I'm sure you will make as good a dad as you will city councilman! Sadly I do agree with al. Middle name is always better for a wifes maiden name. Its hard for a kid when their name is unisex.

Ask me, I should know.

Any relation to Sarah Coakley? Professor at Harvard Div (and hella famous in religious circles)

Joseph,

Sarah Coakley is my wife's maiden name, but no relation to the Harvard Divinity Professor.

Charles
