Great pick, Jack. I remember watching this band with my grandmother. I wasn't sure I could surry, but I knew I could picnic. I also thought Marilyn McCoo was amazingly cute. One of their albums had a song version of the Declaration of Independence which launched my theory that human memory works best with music. I mean you can here an old song and know if it's a slightly different version, because what you remember remains fresh: "We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal. That they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights." Unfortunately, it is also why I remember their version of "Good Morning, Starshine....the earth says hello. You twinkle above us, we twinkle below." Great band. Not exactly threatening. Maybe the least threatening stage outfits in history. Great vocals.

It all started with "Up, Up and Away," which was a masterful song by Jimmy Webb.

weren't they on an episode of "It takes a Thief" ? I seem to remember a romantic interlude between Marilyn McCoo and Robert Wagner and the 5th Dimension performed.
