You read it here first

When news of the management shakeup at the Portland Development Commission broke late last week, we were one of the first (if not the first) to flash it, thanks to an alert reader. One thing we reported then that no one else mentioned was that Lolita Burnette, the PDC "Director of Community Relations and Business Equity," was hitting the road as part of the housecleaning. Today, word of that development became official.

Lolta served as head of HR for the City of Greshamn for a short time in the 90's. Her tenure wasn't of any note there.

"Executive Director Bruce Warner said earlier this year that the commission increased its spending with target firms by nearly 82 percent, raising the total spent to $25.6 million in its 2006-2007 fiscal year. "

I'm sure that was money well spent!

Oh but wait a minute, not a single elected official, or otherwise, is interested enough to even look at exactly where the money goes.

Lazy, incompetent and irresponsible "leadership" is acceptable.

I wonder how big the managers' severance packages were.

I bet they all got packages in exchange for signing legal documents that prevent them from saying anything negative about the PDC.

If the public knew what the management level staff gets paid and what little they do on a daily basis the PDC would soon be shut down.
Not to mention the busy work generation and pushing of useless paper by at least half of the staff.
That on top of the public realtions staff working daily on the public deceit.

But all that's the upside.

The down side is the regular movement of large sums, in many doses, to where it does not belong.

Ben is right on the money....

if only one could stop the madness!
