Sho's got more money than Sam the Tram

A reader writes:

Have you had time yet to see the candidate filing for the Mayor's race?

Sam: $118K in, $48k left.

Sho: $116k in, $95k left.

Sho 'nuff!

Has anyone else noticed, but I am seeing far more Sho signs around Portland than those ugly Sam Adams signs.

Sho has zero chance of winning without a runoff. Sam is shooting his wad trying get 50+1 and knows Sho can't hurt him till the runoff.

This is hardly scientific, but I live in the Hawthorne District and spend a significant amount of time in Irvington/Grant Park and have yet to see a Sam Adams sign on anyone's lawn. I see lots of Sho Dozono signs, and even the odd Jim Middaugh sign. Whither the Mayor To Be?

He and Jon Coney (Metro clone running for state rep.) have quite a few up around Grant Park.

I'm surprised that Sam Adams has any money left, considering his spendthrift tendencies. I almost expect him to try to issue a few million in general-fund-secured bonds to pay for his campaign.

So SHO get's shot down for Public funds and overnight he raises more than Sam has in the last how many months? Where's he getting the money from I wonder?

Greg C

Now all Sho has to do is start making those media appearances and letting everyone know why they need to vote for him.

"Where's he getting the money from I wonder?"

Why don't you look instead of wondering?

Or do you really care?

That's impressive fundraising, considering the short time span. He's only been at it, what, a couple weeks?

I have also heard that all of Sam's bureaus are leaking information like a sieve. Seems a lot of the folks who work for him do not want him to win.

Really? Drive around Laurelhurst Park, or up 39th from Hawthorne to Burnside. You'll see a ton.

Driving up 39th the other day, I was seriously tempted to knock on the doors of Sam supporters and ask them what they're thinking. I'd really like to know.

"Drive around Laurelhurst Park, or up 39th from Hawthorne to Burnside. You'll see a ton[Sam supporters]."

Sam the Sham and his Tramalites.....

Near Laurelhurst Park...

Many Sam signs in the parking strip (or are those Burger King signs....?).

City rules say: No signs there.

Sam don't care.

I haven't seen a single Sho sign where it doesn't belong (legally, that is).

Last Saturday at 3:55 PM I saw Sam Adams himself (with some other guy in tow) running around on NE 24th between Broadway and Weidler (where the road kinks) madly placing signs in the area. A later drive-by showed two or three signs.

If my window had been open I would have given him a piece of my mind, but I didn't have enough time to open it before I'd flicked to the right onto Broadway heading eastbound....

Why don't you look instead of wondering?

Ooooo...Good idea.

Lessee...Weston the slumlord, Tom Kelly the renovator's friend, Frank Piacentini the Plaid Pantry king, Victor Atiyeh, members of the Chown family, some Saltzmans, Rick Gustafson, Len Bergstein, Randall Edwards and...Nohad Toulan.

Oh, yeah, our very own Lister is there, too.

So...It looks like a combo of Republican types and Blumenauer buddies. Those were the ones I recognized.

Yep, I sent the Sho campaign two hundred bucks. That will buy me a whole lotta votes.

Sho is definitely part of the corporate kleptocracy which masquerades as our local government (owner of Azumano travel which has a monopoly with large employers including OHSU).

Nevertheless, after years of observing Sam Adams' borderline sociopathic behavior I would vote for just about anyone else.
