Obama's tax returns!

Read 'em and weep, here. I'll plow through them later, but right now I need a nap.

Wow, fulltime child care for 2 kids = $500/month (TY 2006)! I have a couple of parents who would kill for a deal like that.

Interesting how little he gives to charity (versus the 10% 'tithe').

Regardless of gross or net, he is far from 10%, even when pulling down the larger 6 figures (7,8, or 9xx,xxx).

UCC sure isn't the Mormon church. Did Mitt spill his IRS beans? Anyone know how he compares in the 'tithe' catagory?

Amazing what election to the US Senate did for that "author's" freshman-year income; eight times that of '04. Hmmm!

Still nothing from Hillary, of course.

maybe Hillary "misspoke"

$500/month for two kids? No way.

Not unless they are from Guatemala and receiving free room and board on top of the cash.

Nannygate?

Perhaps the $500/month for childcare is the maximum deduction allowed?

Michelle famously declared, “We left corporate America, which is a lot of what we’re asking young people to do...”, and I'm trying to reconcile that with her knocking down $273 thou a year sitting on that hospital board.

Sweet Jesus......these people are pulling in that kind of jack, getting sweetheart deals on their homes and kid care, but Michelle Obama still complains about how difficult things were financially because of their 'weep' student loans?

Below is the percentage of the Obama's adjusted gross income that went to charity for each year (and this even includes Rev. Wright's church-o-hate):

2006: 6.1%
2005: 4.7%
2004: 1.2%
2003: 1.4%
2002: 0.4%
2001: 0.5%
2000: 0.9%

According the New Yorker profile on Michele a few weeks ago, her mother retired last year to watch the kids when mommy & daddy are on the road. No doubt that's unpaid childcare. Plus, they employ a fulltime housekeeper.

Barack Obama's Tax Returns

By Thomas Gough - Mar 27th, 2008 at 9:50 pm EDT

Let’s really look at Mr. Obama's tax returns. First of all, the returns for 2006 and 2005 look too good to be true. I question whether or not Mr. Obama amended these returns and recreated the original returns to reflect the amended ones filed on Form 1040X.
The reason I pose this question is that it seems odd that Mr. Obama did not incur any expenses relating to his business as an author (other than legal fees and commissions). Does he mean to tell us that he incurred no additional expenses such as office supplies, travel, and telephone? Why would he leave these expenses off his tax return when in fact they would certainly be legitimate deductions? The only reason I can think of, other than attempting to make the public see that he is extremely patriotic, is that he used the facilities at the senate for his own personal use in writing his book.
Also, why didn’t Mr. Obama deduct any property taxes on his home in 2005? He must have incurred them because he paid over $60,000 in mortgage interest.
