Phrases that you don't often hear together
"Portland Trail Blazers" and "first place."
O.k., maybe in sentences like "I don't know why the Portland Trail Blazers traded for that idiot [fill in name of Jail Blazer du jour] in the first place." But this time, it's something completely different.
When was the last time the Blazers were tied for, or in sole possession of, first place in their division later than Christmas? Seems like a l-o-o-o-ong time ago.

The game yesterday was so much fun to watch. Everything about it. My favorite moment remains the forearm Outlaw threw immediately after his dunk.
A caller on the post-game show last night suggested the Blazers could plug ANYONE in and get results. We may get that chance with Miles. He will play again this season. You watch. Could he be "our" Randy Moss?

The night he's ready to go is the night the streak will surely end, if it hasn't done so previously. He is "our" Lee Harvey Oswald.

Aside from the great plays by several players on the court, one of my favorite moments was the way the bench reacted to Josh McRoberts's first points in the NBA. The whole team was on their feet and cheering. That pretty well sums up this Blazer team's character and attitude on and off the court.

What's going on here? Seems like the Blazers of Bill Walton days. They must have cleaned up their act or something. Did they get rid of the bad boy jailbirds?

There's only one left.

Agreed. I pointed that out to my buddy and asked if he thought the Bonzi/'Sheed-era Blazers would ever have done such a thing. We agreed, they wouldn't.
That said, there haven't been many "the guys all met in the lobby and went out to dinner" stories of late.

The night he's ready to go...
They've got to send him out there to see if he has any trade value. It's pretty clear they're not gonna cut him (which the should do), so they need to showcase him.

unfortunately, the Blazers' streak ends tonight with a loss to Utah.
but they're going places for sure. next year is going to be good.

that is, if Kirilenko plays.

"unfortunately, the Blazers' streak ends tonight with a loss to Utah."
What makes you so sure? They've already beat the Jazz twice this season, once in SLC. I'd say their chances are better than the Jazz for a win.

educated guess. pressure of a long Portland win streak, Utah coming off two tough losses but playing better, probably tired of losing to Portland, home game after a day off; and, teams close in ability rarely go 0-3.
but if Kirilenko isn't healthy and in the lineup, it could likely be win #14.
i crazily predict the score:
Utah 97, Portland 94.

i crazily predict the score...
How would you feel if it were 13 mini-Roys against the Jazz?
Mini-Roys: A hunnerd and nine
Jazz: Ninety-tree
Da Blazers!

Now I remember why I always loved the Blazers... they're a fun distraction from the long, wet, gray months.
Damn this is fun...

would Nate McMillan be full-grown, or would it be mini-Nate?
Posted by ecohuman.com | December 31, 2007 3:25 PM
I think Nate is actually out tonight, but for the sake of argument, we'll make it a mini-Nate.

wit mini-Nate, da Blazers eighty-tree ta seventeen. wit all mini-Roys, a hunnert and tree ta six.
