Boring as a cul-de-sac
What creativity-impaired people we have in our government these days. The new train on the west side is going to be called WES, for Westside Express Service. Can it get any duller than that?
I still like "the Tually."

I doubt it. As I understand it, the hours of the new train are going to be mighty limited.

WES...as in Clackamas County Water Environment Services.
Yep. thoroughly boring.

Hmmm...First MAX, then WES.
Do I detect a gender preference?

I can't wait until that boondoggle starts running during rush hour and makes Beaverton that much more unbearable in which to drive.

It'll be fine if you're on the train!

Not pretty but here's your other gender preference - see what Seattle did:

"hours severely limited" is no match for the pathetically limited ridership...betcha it never materializes. $117million that could have been much better spent improving roads....like 217?....maybe? What a f#%&ing waste of money.

I testified against this project several years ago when my home was in Tualatin. O pointed out that of the 20 households that I knew of in both Tualatin and Wilsonville there wasn't a single party that had any desire or need to ride a train to Washington Square or Beaverton. It was readily apparent that the TriMet and ODOT people at that meeting already had their minds made up to fund this boondogle. So much for the "public process".
I predicted that the number of people that use this service will be minimal. Even the Federal DOY people thought that TriMet's "projections" of ridership were overly optimistic.
I will NOT be the least bit surprised to find out that ridership projections were unrealistic at best. And deceitful at worst.

So I suppose we would all be happier with a name like: South Lake Union Trolley, you know, SLUT for short.

How about TIV for "Train in Vain"?

Considering that I hear this thing will actually cross several main arteries on existing train tracks, how about:
Westside Asinine Super Trafficjam Enhancer
Hey, I'm just waking up for the night shift, best I could do. Maybe someone could further improve on the W.A.S.T.E. acronym ?
