Wow, that's harsh, but when we welcomed Greg Oden to Portland it was for good times and bad. He's already brought more joy to this town than most people. As long as there's no character problems involved, we've got to keep the faith with this young man and hope for the best.
At least Bill Walton had played some games before he got injured.
This guy started slow then fizzled.
Karma. Portland has it coming and going. Mostly going.
"...but when we welcomed Greg Oden to Portland it was for good times and bad."
Maybe YOU did, but I welcomed him here for good times. Portland has had about as much of the bad times as any city should have to take. A player who doesn't know when, where, how or why he got injured is not a receipe for "good times".

That's classic. Just a wild guess: Were you a drama major in college?
Hey, I'm not enjoying this either, but I'm not going to hit the panic button just yet. Oden's getting his knee scoped. It happens. Recollections from the old days are somewhat hazy, but I recall that even when Bill Walton broke his toe on a water sprinkler while playing Frizbee, we hung in there with him, and that worked out.
What I'm really not liking is the sudden, mysterious appearance of this ailment. Was this something like the tonsils, which he knew about all along? Did he hurt it recently doing something stupid (remember the Mychal Thompson touch football game that cost the Blazers a season)? "It just started to hurt -- I don't know how it happened -- now I can't play" sounds too much like Darius Miles.
We've got two impressive young big men, but one's got a heart condition and the other one's made of glass, apparently. Maybe the gods weren't smiling on the Blazers after all.

I'm gonna wait and see. I seem to recall similar feelings of doom and gloom about Brandon Roy's heel early last season and things seemed to work out alright. If this is a problem in February, then I'll be worried.

this fellow is still a teenager, but has several health issues. in the merciless world of pro sports, those issues don't get better--they get worse.
myself, i think the scouts were right--he's a risky pick.
here's to hoping he gets to play a full career. maybe the Blazers get another lottery pick next year...

Is there a link different from OregonLive for this? Sheesh, what a splat to go to that.

There's heels, and then there's knees.

Why did it have to be the knee? Anything but the knee!!

There's heels, and then there's knees.
Very true. And this doesn't look good either. But I'm holding out hope.
