You think Bush's approval rating is low

Check out Congress'.

Surely this is Bush's fault.

Actually it's the Dems fault. For not stepping up to the plate and impeaching GW.

For not stepping up to the plate and impeaching GW.

They weren't elected to impeach. They were elected to stand up to the president and stop the war. They've failed on both counts. Dems, for whatever reason, are deathly afraid of being labeled "do nothings" by both sides going into 2008. Voters, I think, would be fine with a "do nothing" congress for the next two years provided that means the administration is gummed up until the next election and we can clear them out.

Here's hoping Congress can get it right this time around.

"stand up to the president and stop the war" = Impeach.

Depends on the poll, and whether the ask on Congress breaks it down by party. The latest Harris Poll rates them Democrats in Congress, President, Republicans in Congress (31%,26%,21% approval, respectively).

There's no doubt that liberals are dissatisfied with Democrats in Congress--but even if the numbers are similar, there's a qualitative difference between the guy that fucked up, and the people that don't appear able to stop him.

Can anyone explain why articles of impeachment have not been filed against Cheney? What republican would be willing to stand behind Darth Cheney? How would exposing his Republican cronies do anything adverse for the Dems? Even if they could not muster sufficient support to actually toss him from office?

during Republican majority: it's Bush's fault.

after Democratic majority: it's the Dem's fault.

opinion polls seem to do nothing but help us assign blame and praise.

when will the ludicrous blame game stop? it's OUR fault.

I contend that the low congress rating is in large part related their attempt to pass amnesty.
Which is yet another example of Congress' attempt to make a severe problem much worse.
Many here like to believe a Kerry Or Gore administration would have approval ratings sky high.
Sort of like the high approval rating of the Oregon Legislature.

Sort of like the Clinton administration.

Really this is about the rebublican (admin, senate, house and justice) obstructionist tactics. They like that the (impression) polls are low for congress. That'd be the only way they could stand a chance in the 2008 elections.

The Dems cannot do anything except drastic measures like impeachment, subpoenas, hearings, et al. I do wonder why they don't IMPEACH NOW!

Let the 30-40 percenters filibuster tomorrow in prime time and see how the polls change. Let 'em expose themselves as the blowhards they are.

Impeach the bastards out. That's what we're supposed to do when we don't like the election results.

Or just whine about voter fraud.

Genop:

Unpopularity is not impeachable. What high crime or misdemeanor has Cheney committed? Impeachment at this point is just silly talk.

As for Congress's approval - do you think that they care more about investigation than legislation has anything to do with it? What have they done in the past two years besides rename post offices? Maybe they should try passing a meaningful bill.

I'd say contempt of Congress would get the whole bunch for starters. But admittedly, they lack the cajones.

Gee....I have contempt for Congress...as do 80% of the rest of America if polls are any indication.

ROFLMAO every time the"impeachment" loonies come out of their caves.

Me too. Blue dress -- cigar -- deposition -- cracked me up.
