The craziest part of this trial is the revelation (if I am reading my news stories correctly) that in fact there was not one single honest $5 contribution made to either the Boyles campaign or the Tate campaign. Ol' Vladimir apparently gave up all the supposed "contribution" money out of his personal bank account, figuring that he would get it back several times over from Boyles and Tate once they collected their illegal loot.

Every single contribution was apparently faked, and yet the city forked over the Boyles money. Great job, Gary Blackmer. Glad to see we've got an eagle eye like yours as the city auditor watching the money. Portland's financial future is secure.

And having seen how easy it is, seven members of the jury will be launching their own City Council campaigns by the end of next week.
