1 too many

Today's rumor has the Blazers re-signing point guard Steve Blake, whom they let go last year. They need another point guard like a hole in the head, and so it's obvious that one of its current crop is trade bait. I'm still thinking they're going to trade Jarrett Jack, a move with which I would disagree. But so goes it.

I'd rather have Jack than Blake, but I don't think it's that big of a difference.
I'm a big, big fan of what Kevin Pritchard has done/is doing, especially building the ridiculously good cap flexibility over the next couple years.

I really like where they are going and in 3 years, this team is going to be a solid contender. I just hope people realize that this team is going to be bad this year and don't get frustrated. Remember, it's Nash's fault that Pritchard has had to blow things up.

The Blazers DO need a point guard. JJ may work out just fine, but he's way too inconsistent to fill the starter's shoes just yet. Sergio may get there too, but he's at least a year behind Jarrett. They need a veteran PG who can step in and run the team now, and they need one without the accompanying ego and self-importance many of the other candidates possess.

Blake is an easy selection for the Blazers and will continue where he left off -- running the offense, playing better than fair defense and showing the "kids" how to run the show.

I'm thinking some sort of package with JJ and Webster for a SF is in the works.

The Blazers have stocked up on a lot of PGs and with Brandon Roy you don't need much of back up SG anyway so Webster is expendable.
