Still quite the piece of work. Wonder if she'll ever pay any more of the money back.

Boyles. What a piece of work. During the Johnson Goldwater race Goldwater's folks came up with "in your heart you know he's right". Johnson's folks responded with "in your guts you know he's nuts". That's the conclusion any sane person would draw about Emilie as soon as she opened her mouth. I'm proud to have been the first one to publicly call her out to give back the money... too bad she'd already spent most of it.
Beyond that, look at the signatures on the KATU story. How could those possibly have passed muster with the auditor? Blackmer blew it.... big time. I don't recall ever hearing an apology from him or his office. He just skewered poor Susan Francois (as is the tradition of Portland's electeds) and she ran off to a nunnery.
Believe it or not, Boyles had the brass, after she got her free money, to ask Amanda, myself and all the other candidates if we would be interested in a joint election night party... funded no doubt with the "clean money" she hadn't handed over to her daughter. In hindsight, I wish I'd puked on her shoes.
"He just skewered poor Susan Francois (as is the tradition of Portland's electeds) and she ran off to a nunnery."
"It's a tradition, hallowed by usage and consecrated by time", find someone who is just about to leave (or retire) and blame it on them. Nowadays, when you can payup to 6 months severance pay and full benefits, you can get people voluteering to be blamed.

Ps The quote is from the Cohen Brothers "Miller's Crossing".
Blaming is probably to strong a word and I do know her decison to leave was made before this whole Boyles thing came to light. I do think Blackmer mentioned that it was her job to check the signatures and manage the program though.
The only thing I remember out of the Auditor's office was a statement somewhere that their elections office didn't have the staff to check every single signature. Whether or not you go with that, that's hardly blaming Francois for it.
Meanwhile, the worst part of all of this for me is that 'Lie Boyles (nee Emilie Oy) has removed from her website any reference to her once-forthcoming book, The Pendulum Swings.

And yes, you may ask me how I really feel.

This is the first I've heard of anyone blaming Ms. Francois for this fiasco. Any such assertion would be patently ridiculous, of course.
I do know that her decision to become a religious sister had little or nothing to do with this.

Just curious: Does anyone know who is representing Golovan?

Maybe he said that to you. He never said that in the media.

So sad.

Well I guess I will stop trying to defend Dave Lister's comments and let him do it then.
