Nasty news

It's not like this blog is a regular source of consumer alerts, but a scary story in the Times makes it worth posting that if you have been using a contact lens solution known as AMO Complete Moisture Plus Multi-Purpose Solution, you should drop everything and read this right away.

Similar story affecting an Elmira, Oregon student. You'll have to pay (or use Lexis) to get full access....

Thanks much for the early warning, Jack. My wife and daughter both had some of this solution on the shelf, and it's been discarded. I use a different brand.

I used a generic brand of solution from Walgreens about 10 years ago and got a horrible eye infection. They couldn't figure out what it was. Because of that, I can no longer wear my contacts. Bummed me out.
