Time has come today
Another one of the participants in the August 2005 downtown Portland shootout that had everyone atwitter got sentenced today in federal court. Eight years for being a felon with a firearm. No one has yet been charged in the homicide that occurred that night.

That's ridiculous. 8 years, taking into consideration his record?! That guy got off WAY too easy. No wonder people aren't deterred from using firearms for criminal activities. I know I'll probably catch a lot of crap for it, but I believe felons in possession of a firearm should be sentenced to a minimum of 10 years, and the use of said firearm would warrant 15-20. One must make a deliberate effort to acquire and posses a firearm, it's not as if they're difficult to avoid.
