Downtown Portland, 1947

What with the crazy travel schedule and then the blur of Christmas, I just now caught the post on Cafe Unknown about the old Oregon Journal news helicopter era. As usual, fantastic photos (especially the last one) and a most interesting story.

The news of that crash is one of my early memories -- I was five at the time, and Sam Jackson was, as I remember it, a client of my Dad's.

The aerial view of Sullivan's Gulch is great. You can see the golf course to the northeast of Benson High, as well as the clubhouse, which later housed Ireland's restaurant (now Four Points Credit Union).
