Up and coming

Have you heard Corinne Bailey Rae yet? I know nothing about her other than what I hear on her debut album, but it's so good.

Billie Holiday lives!

Amazon her "I cried for you" and hear it for yourself.

It's not a Billie imitation act. For that we have this gal. It's more a Norah Jones, only a little funkier.

And I hope Corinne doesn't develop Billie's problems, of course...

I caught the Norah twist as well and it works. We need more refreshing change.

Someone as unique as Ella Fitz perhaps?

when i think of billie or ella i think of smokey clubs. roadside bars.

when i hear this i think STARBUCKS.

Corinne Bailey Rae is the musical guest on SNL this weekend.

She came through Portland a couple of months ago, playing Lola's Room

when i hear this i think STARBUCKS.

Yeah, but it's good Starbucks.

She is no Ella, let's not even try to go there. But in the crop we have out there today, she's all right.

hard to miss her when VH1 and MTV shove her videos down your throat...in that rare moment they actually play videos.

What's "VH1 and MTV"? Seriously, I haven't looked at either of those in well over a decade.

I was unaware of the hype. I based my judgment on actually sitting down and listening to the CD.

Caught her on SNL Saturday nite (duh?)....she is delightful...IMO, alot more soul than Norah. So much of the Jones girl's stuff all kinda sounds the same to me.
