The suck just got suckier

If you thought OregonLive was a bad website before, try it now with audio car dealer ads blaring out of your speakers at random. That's it, Newhouse -- keep driving people away...

How annoying.

I suggest using Firefox browser with Adblock Plus extension. It zaps most ads, including part of your sponsors' ads.

Well, if nobody reads the website, then nobody will question their unquestioning reporting....

The O tells their advertisers that their website gets like a million (or some other ridiculous number) "unique" visitors to its site every month. Call 503-221-8000 and ask about their website and you'll get the BS.
I finally figured out where they get those figures. When you visit the site you have to type in a zip code etc. If people do what I used to do before I totally gave up on that piece of shit site, which is type in a new zip code, make one up every time I had to enter one, it will record every zip code, birth date or whatever it is they want, as a unique visitor. I had pop ups blocked and had to put in a zip code every time I went to a new page.
BTW Oregonlive runs the website and it is not all that the O tells its advertisers it is. Less than 8 months ago, you could type in "Sellwood" for a Sellwood house for sale and zero ads would come up. You could type in 1999 or 99 Ford and nothing would come up. Most advertisers had no idea that nobody could find their ads on Oregonlive.com They have made some improvements but I can attest that it is still a POS website
It's not really The Oregonian's, but it is the Newhouse family's. All their newspapers have the same type of website. The O has really pushed the marketing (BS) to get people to think it's a valid website. I actually heard a manager there say the website was really good, commenting on all the popups. I said, "that's a good thing?"
The library has a good book on S.I. Newhouse. I recommend it. I don't think there are any other biographies available at the library about the Newhouse family. Check it out.
