Happy birthday to Paul Simon, one of the greatest songwriters of his generation, who turns 65 today.

And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sign said, "The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls"
And whispered in the sounds of silence
It's almost getting hard remembering that time, when music lyrics were real poetry, and even the grafitti was more literate, not just mindless, destructive "tagging."
I always appreciated his humility (yeah, I know he's not known for that), showing up on many Saturday Night Live episodes over the years... A New Yorker, through and through.
I saw both of them a few years ago when their reunion tour played the Rose Garden.
There was a box office screw up with my tickets (they'd been given away to a season ticket holder by mistake), so they put us in the front row....a couple of seats down from Paul Allen.
Most. Amazing. Concert. Ever.
Artie was making goo-goo eyes at my wife (she was flattered), and I enjoyed the nuance of their live performance more than any CD (or other live concert) that I've attended.

What an amazing artist.

Still crazy after all these years. Whoa, still crazy. Still cra-a-zy. Still crazy - after all these years.
My ex has asked for this song to be played at his funeral.

I love Paul Simon....my old neighbor toured with Simon on his Graceland Tour.
But what about Artie? Without Artie, there never would a been Simon and Garfunkel.
Happy Birth Day to Paul...but Remeber the Artie!!

Too bad there's not a Nobel Prize for music.
