I wish the author had replaced "somehow" with "whereas". That might perhaps transform the tone of powerless sarcasm into a comprehensive indictment.
Who's being indicted, you might ask?
We all are.
In a democracy, the policy of the leaders is the policy of the people. So don’t be shocked when our grandkids bury much of this generation as traitors to the nation, to the world and to humanity.
It does 'though seem silly to think that an American public 40 or 50 years from now, one even more narcotized than we are now by a collusive media and compulsive consumption in vast shopping malls, might give a flying f... about widespread public culpability in the Bush-Cheney-Rummey wars.
Yeah, you don't hear the GOP talking about Pat Tillman anymore... I wonder if it's because they're sick, opportunistic jerks, and it doesn't 'focus group' well in middle America.
May I also direct your attention to Keith Olberman, who has been doing Murrow's work on MSNBC lately...
