R.I.P.

From this week's bulletin at our church:

Jack,

St Philip Neri is where our HAND neighborhood association meets. It's an old Italian neighborhood...is that reflected in the current church membership? It seems to be in the mass intentions. And how did Chasse end up here?

I miss Pierri's pizza on Powell.

I think the percentage of Italian-Americans in the parish may be declining, but their influence is forever felt. As you can see, they keep up the old traditions like Mass intentions (as close to selling indulgences as they get nowadays).

A big message of the parish is that we have to look after people like Chasse. So I'm not surprised that somebody put his name in for remembrance.

Hmmm..."ordinary time"?

Is there extraordinary time at your place of worship?

Oh...Neutrons have mass? I didn't even know they were Catholic.

"Ordinary time" is that long stretch between the Easter season (which goes on for a month and half) and Advent (four weeks before Christmas). Toward the end of the ordinary, right before Thanksgiving, they read the "the end is near" stuff out of the good book. We're not there yet, but you can start to smell it.

And...I think it was supposed to be "protons", not "neutrons".

I muffed the joke...dammit.

You're a crouton.
