He's doing a heck of a job, though

The commissioner of internal revenue has instructed the IRS's field people to go easy on taxpayers affected by Hurricane Katrina until after the election and the holidays.

He might have gotten a free pass if he had just mentioned the holidays, but altering enforcement strategies because of a pending election? Now, that's a big no-no.

Six years ago, this might have suprised me. Since then, the daily trickle of Bush/GOP illegalities has worn us down, made us numb. Another day, another scandal, another power-grab.

Maybe we're making progress. I've had an 'IMPEACH' sticker on my car for a month, and no gouged tires or key marks so far. That's progress.

A tenet of the Republican party is that government is inherently bad. When they're running it, it surely is.
