At Pulse Saturday night, I got to hang for a few minutes with Chris Dudley. This former Blazer center is a gentle giant of a Yale man. He answered all my typical fan questions about the old days, and talked a little bit about his current life as a wealth management consultant. A big patron of juvenile diabetes causes, there he was at a Children's Heart Foundation benefit, stooping down so that he could look us little folks in the eye while we chatted.
Nice man.

Yes, Chris has retired from basketball now, but his freethrows still reverberate around the NBA.

Chris Dudley's basketball camp for children with diabetes is actually quite innovative. He's taken an old idea -- summer camp for children with diabetes -- and added a new twist -- basketball camp. It is a one-of-a-kind operation and draws children from around the country. I'm not at all surprised to hear that he's helping out with the Children's Heart Foundation too. I wish there were more like him.
