In the spotlight
It must be a slow news weekend. My piece on my friend Susan's becoming a nun has been picked up by OregonLive. I'm sure her old hit meter is spinning away today. That's a lot of attention for someone who's about to begin a cloistered life. Good thing Susan is so strong -- she can handle it. And the more people who read what she has to say, the better. You don't encounter vocations like hers every day.

It is nice she is in a far better place, and can truly follow her heart and do public service.
City Hall has long since abandoned the common citizens, for its new masters in thier condo towers and Tramway to heaven.

As evidence of this see Chuck's comments on Blue Oregon, all I can say to Kari is open your eyes and see where the Leaders are taking us and who City Hall Serves.

“The highest-paid fifth of workers have reaped all of the real earnings gains since the recovery began,” he added. “Everyone else is slipping backwards.”
I don't understand. If middle-class jobs are being created, and they are, then how can all the gains be going to the top fifth?

Slow news day indeed! And yes, lots of traffic (about 4 times my usual by days end I suspect).
It's funny because as of when I fly to New Jersey Wednesday, I'm taking a self imposed month long "blog fast." So many visitors, and then silence on my part!!
For the record I won't be "cloistered." My community is an active contemplative order, and even in the Novitiate we'll have the opportunity to interact with normal folks. Hence I can keep up the blog once I get myself settled and into the groove.
