She's gone
As predicted here yesterday, Vicki Walker has dropped out of the governor's race and will run for re-election to the state senate. Too bad, but at least she's still planning to continue busting the old boys' chops. It's badly needed.
I guess that means that I'm backing Ted -- er, I mean Pete -- Sorenson in the primary.
For the record, I hope the snowball in hell succeeds, too.

There's still some talk that Jim Hill might get into the race. Maybe a preliminary "bojack" endorsement would sway him?

We've seen the Jim Hill movie before. He ought to save his energy.
I think I'll be sitting that one out. It looks like a total loss.

Whaddaya think about Jason Atkinson? He's got lots of ideas and he is not a typical republican.

Four comments just didn't seem like enough for this topic.

Well, then.....comment away!!! Okay, so that *was* your best shot. So sad, a wasted mind is!
Here is mine:
1-Jack calls it correct, Kitz gets a plume job.
2-Sen Ben pulls a Vicki, going home with tail between legs.
3-Gov Marine/Judge/Bowler sqeeks by in the Gen'l against a non-Jason Repub
4-Vicki and Jason come back in four years
5-Greg Walden succeeds TeddyK in 2010

Jack, Thank you for your tremendous support of me personally, and the work I do on behalf of all Oregonians. You are a treasure. I enjoy reading your blog, and admire the time you put into it. We count on you to hold us accountable...and to provide us with a look inside your family, your music, your friends and so much more. You called it right in your blog the other day, as you always do, though I have to tell you I did give serious thought to returning to private life until I realized what that really meant: no more opportunities to make great public policy like SB 408 and SB 324, and certainly less of an opportunity to keep government open and honest. We'll have to archive the vicki walker for governor ad, but don't bury it where you can't easily find it. :) For now, I'm going to rejoin my colleagues in the Senate and work to create a better future for Oregon. P.S. Don't let up on OHSU.

Hey Vicki,
Thanks for joining the debate. Prove me wrong on #5 above, okay?

I really would like to see Westlund jump in here, just to shake things up a bit...
I'd take a closer look myself (and this, from a lifelong Democrat, no less...)

I'll try, Harry. Republicans are doing so poorly in Congress right now that mid-term elections could see a coup by the Democrats. If you see a D takeover, look for Walden to make his move in 2010 b/c he was highly recruited for 2006, and he has a young family.
