It's almost spring

And the caucuses are up.

You're kidding me. I kept reading these glowing reports (in TheO) of how he'd founded the Congressional Bike Caucus and he was getting other Congressmen on board. It was all just a bunch of hooey? I know I shouldn't be shocked, but I honestly fell for it. Wow.

Read it again. Wonkette screwed up. There are plenty of members of these caucuses -- but only one officer. Oopsie.

Still fun to see our leaders in the limelight.

If you read further, you'll see that Wonkette was mistaken when she originally posted -- Earl is the only OFFICER of the listed caucuses but not the only member. A commenter on Wonkette noted that the Bike Caucus is actually one of the largest.

Who has time to read? I prefer my way.

Ignorance.

It's served you well, Butterbean.

Would expect nothing less from the Couv to take potshots at Oregon's Nerdiest Congressman. And I mean that in a nice way - he knows he's a nerd - just ask him. But a very successful nerd...he fits the 3rd district very well.

Do you think Erik would agree to join the bow-tie caucus if Earl stepped down and endorsed him?

I am no fan of Earl's, but the last time I listened to him give a speech, I got the feeling he's tired of the game.

Following the time honored "safe-seat" tradition, it would only be fair for the Stenmobile to get a promotion if he gets tossed out on his clean money a$$.

Now that wasn't very nice, was it?

Alice,

Are you kidding? Earl is waiting until the Dems get Congress back. Then he's going to run some committees - he'll have the seniority to do it. And he'll throw some more federal $$ our way (yay, more light rail!). If the GOP keeps trying to give away our ports to Dubai, then he might get that chance sooner rather than later.

Put it this way - what else would Earl do? He's in his late 50s, hasn't been in the private sector for quite awhile. Can't see him staying in DC to lobby like so many of his ilk. What, he would come home and lose all power and influence?

No way. He's in it to stay.

I'll donate a dozen bow ties.

(does Erik need clip-ons?)

Please, let's not pick on Commissioner Sten this week. He is in Los Angeles attending the funeral of his long-time colleague, Barney Fife.

It's served you well, Butterbean.

Yeah, well what can I say. Open mouth...insert foot. My apologies.

We know it's all an act for your wrestling audience.

C'mon Jack, Barney is not Sten's colleague, he is his mentor. One day Sten can hope to be that effective.... he does, however, have the "fumbling bullet" move down nicely already...

You're right, Opie was a little young back then.

slightly off topic
