To host a round of the NCAA basketball tournament in the spring of 2009 or 2010 would be very cool.

I'm surprised that this comment sparked so little interest. Having relocated to Portland after living in a few burgs that hosted the NCAA Tourney (and screamed myself hoarse at more than a few tourney games), I can personally vouch for the fact that there are fewer more entertaining weekends for a city than when thousands of rabid, out-of-state (and big spending) hoops fans show up to take part in one of America's great sports events. It's sad that Portland, perfectly situated to play host for this event, has screwed things up.
Jack, I think we will have March Madness. I can't wait for the Pioneer Courthouse Celebration when the SSSSSSTOP the TTTRAAAAAM efforts succeed. CTLH (with their $789.67 in our financial kitty) and Homestead (don't know their kitty amount, but since a few more Doctors live up the hill from us in CTLH, it must be higher)will throw a hell-of-a-PARTY. Can you contribute?
March 15th is the date. Beware the ides of March.
