Tired of playing nanny
Ace Portland-based international blogger Michael J. Totten has had enough of dealing with wayward comments on his blog. He's closed them off for the next six months.
Amazing. He'd literally rather deal with Beirut than with the trolls of the blogosphere.

I find it odd and ironic that many blog-masters have decided to pull the plug on comments. That begs the question: are blogs intended to foster community discussion, or are they simply vanity projects void of two-way dialogue? I've always seen blogs as an alternative voice to what's available in traditional media. The existance of a blog without feedback is simply... dull.

It is hard to take someone seriously as a provocateur, especially one who does not know how to use the word “ironic.”
