Recurring midsummer nightmare

It happens every other summer. Some perfectly sensible consumer protection legislation is derailed in the Oregon Legislature by a Republican member of the House, from a rural area, whose constituents are so fixated on hating taxes, unions, and gay people that they don't even notice that he or she is taking money out of the pockets of people just like them and handing it over to corporate thieves.

Last time around it was this lady, whose antics did not play well on a statewide basis. Now it's this guy, whose latest stunt is this.

It's a shame how paralyzed this state has become. It's beginning to look as though it will never get up off its back and walk again.

BTW, his constituents get their power from Idaho Power....

Arrrghhh!

How does this pertain to gay and unions?

Or did you just throw that in knowing that those words would invoke a paroxysm of mindless leftoid prattle?

Look at Alpal3, it worked.

I'm sure he has a reason. The Big O doesn't really help us in learning out what it is. Instead they just take at value the proposition that whatever comes out of the mouths of lobbiests and leftwing nutjob state senators is the is ipso facto the right and proper thing. Isn't micromanaging a utility's rate setting formula something more properly within the domain of the PUC, rather than the state legislature, anyway?

Actually, no. Charging ratepayers for taxes not actually paid is enough of an abuse that the legislature can and should step in.

The PUC is supposed to do what the legislature tells it to do.

Actually, no. Charging ratepayers for taxes not actually paid is enough of an abuse that the legislature can and should step in.

And its all working out so well having the politcos wrangle with it, isn't it?

Mindless prattle might be called:

Logrolling.
