By this time Wednesday...
...we'll know who the next President is.
And if we don't, I think I'll go up to Canada, get a flu shot, smoke a Cuban cigar, and decide whether I want to come back.

We can arrange carpools. I can drive or offer to pitch in for gas!

A lot of us will be waving good bye to a lot of you, I guess. Why not stick around and make it interesting?

Well, Mike, we'll be sure to come back in time to see you get shipped off to Iran or Iraq.

We're all in trouble if they are taking 60 year olds. But, I am aware that those with teenagers could be worried. Let's pray for a peace.

Who wants to start a betting pool as to how long it will take to have a final decision? :P

We won't know right away, not by a long shot. Enjoy your Canadian vacation, Jack.
FWIW, Isaac probably has it right.

After last year's debacle, everybody seems to think that having the process drag on for weeks is inevitable. It shouldn't be. The electoral college will be close, but the votes within each state should be callable by noon on Wednesday.
If they aren't, there's something wrong with the electoral process in this country. Seriously wrong. And given what happened four years ago, the fact that we let the problems continue is a national disgrace.
You want to spread democracy around the globe? For crying out loud, spend the time and money to make it work at home.
It used to be that it took a disaster to get Americans to wake up. Now even the disasters don't prompt the needed changes.
O, Canada...

Move anywhere with an ISP; I don't care. But has anyone who has ever threatened to leave the country because of election results -- any election -- ever done so? Ever? Every election I hear promises or threats, but I have never heard of one of them kept.

It's not the outcome that's worth leaving over, it's the awful process.
I could even live with a Bush victory, if it's fair, square, and prompt.

Jack, don't waste your time moving to Canada. If GW wins the election, my sources tell me he plans to make Canada our 51st state so he can drill it for oil and draft young Canadians to fight the wars in Iraq, Iran, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic.

My feeling on Wednesday: I don't think the individual states would be done by that day, because if they are close enough then a mandatory recount would take a while.

Unless I'm mistaken most of the South left the country because of the election of Abraham Lincoln. They called it secession.

I started a thread of those I hear that are leaving if Bush is elected. I'm up to 7, I would be glad to include those threatening to leave if Kerry is elected. Me, I'm staying, regardless!

I know this comment is late, but I just wanted to point out (Sally) that my neighbor just put her house on the market. She's moving to Canada. Reason? She doesn't want to raise her kids in a country where more than half the voters think the George Bush Way is the right way.
