Still neck-and-neck
The Oregonian today endorsed Goli Ameri for Congress, over incumbent David Wu.
In the all-important race to see which of these two is more annoying, however, it remains a statistical dead heat.
"I'm cute! Watch me bungee-jump!"
"When I disagree with Tom DeLay, I will tell him so!"
Puh-leez. It's like Gilbert Gottfried vs. Yoko Ono.

Oh yes, but they will endorse John Kerry in tomorrows paper. Great article. I personally think Goli Ameri would make a fine Congressperson. David Wu too. This ones up for grabs.

Wu gets my vote.

Back in August the following email was sent to the pinkportland list-serve:
BEWARE: Ameri's local friendly press appears to be The Oregonian; in its endorsement of her during the GOP primary, as well as in its Ameri campaign coverage by reporter Laura Gunderson, The Oregonian has assisted (whether knowingly or not) in the historical revision of Ameri's all-American fable, beginning with her supposed "refugee" background. Refugee my pink ass...

Speaking of David Wu--any thoughts on the O's "October Surprise" this morning?

Without regard to Wu, this story raises an interesting question about the Oregonian: Did the editorial page folks know about this when they endorsed Ameri just days before? If they did, is it ethical to make an endorsement based (in part at least) on information you don't disclose to your readers?
