Jack, the pigs' odors offend you only when you and they are at the same level.
Now if they were high above you, let's say on an aerial tram . . .

Back when I was in Iowa we would go on nice bike rides after work out to a neat little bar at a crossroads in the country. We would pass by a hog confinement operation. In the middle of the summer we could often smell it from about 3-4 miles away up to 6-7 when we were down wind. And that was a small operation maybe only 1 to 2 thousand head.

The question should be, who was there first? If these neighbors built their houses next to a pig farm then they have no complaint. If, on the other hand, the pig farms set up operations around other residents, then I can see some award, but not that much.
The award probably went to the lawyers anyway. You know how they are.
