The Nascar thing

Bush at Nascar shows you right where we're heading.

W. will be sold as the "real" guy, the one who represents hetero, white-bread, Euro-American values, leaving us to see Kerry as a lefty Hyannisport socialite who's never been in touch with the country's mainstream.

What hypocrisy, of course. Bush never had a job that he wasn't handed by his father and his cronies, and he's done more in three years to screw the average white-bread American through the tax code than any other modern American leader has done in a lifetime.

But it's a great sales job, and it's going to get better.

That's why the Democrats are going to regret that they passed on John Edwards.

The truly ironic thing here is that my friend, who is a long-time NASCAR fan, says that Bush's attempt to co-opt the Daytona 500 yesterday probably ticked off many racefans who a) just wanted to see the race, and b) were annoyed that he was playing such an obvious political game on 'their' time.

Don't get him started on the whole 'NASCAR dad' bit, or the rash of articles asserting that most race fans lean to the right politically. He says, from his experience, it just isn't so...

If it wasn't for "Daddy W", then Little W wouldn't be anywhere near the Whitehouse. The only spine the man has is what he borrows from Daddy.

I agree completely on the people passing up Edwards, perhaps he'll come around again in another few years :) He has a great deal to offer the dems.

Yeah, but next time around, Edwards'll have to deal with Hillary -- probably the only Democrat I couldn't bring myself to vote for.

LOL don't get me started on Hilary! I'm no fan of hers, not because of her political abilities, but because she kept that loser husband of hers around.

Jack, I'm pleased that you got the Hillary part right anyway.

Cousin James

all you people who call W's father "daddy" have made me seen the light!!! That clever way of pointing out that a parent is wealthy has made me realize that we can't have a president whose father helps their son out! That's just terrible! We should have elected Gore. Oh, wait. Well, we can elect Kerry. Oh, wait not only were is parents rich, but his wife is too.

Okay, Edwards is the guy. He must be since he worked while in college...

People who complain that Bush had everything "handed" to him just sound jealous and lame. It's one thing to disagree with his politics, it's another to hold his families wealth against him. I hope that all of you who do this will never help any of your children with a job, education, etc.

You know, if my kids turned out to be as dumb as W., I probably would cut them off.

Clever, witty retort, yes.
Refuting the idea that it's petty to hold a family's wealth against a child? No

I didn't think you were serious, so I wasn't.

Hey, look, I don't begrudge him being the head of the Texas Rangers baseball team. But given this gentleman's talents, that's really as far as Daddy's money should have gone.

If his father hadn't been President, we wouldn't have had this fellow wrecking this country the way he has for the last three years.
