Larry Norton over on the O's Old Town blog has some interesting thoughts on this week's delinchpinization of the Portland Central Fire Station condo project, including:

And I'm gratified that he agrees with me that the PDC should go away and leave Saturday Market alone.The Fire Department never wanted to move the station in the first place, nor did the Station Advisory Committee (SAC).

Obviously, this deal would have been a new tram. I don't know what happened, but somehow the wheels fell off. There must not have been that much money for the developer. BTW, I thought it was "delinchpinification" formally. *snark*

I don't know if many of you know it , but an obscene amount of time (in the way of meetings) as well as money has been spent trying to figure out this Portland Saturday Market proposed move as well. I have a feeling that this will get pushed to the wayside as well.

If someone offers an incentive to Naito's, or one of the other property owners, to not rent to us... sigh, it's just capitalism in action.
It would be nice if the city would remember the thousands of dollars we pay every year as licensed small businesses, and brought in through parking meters, among other things.
At least most of our neighbors appreciate the added business they get from our customer draw.
