As loathesome as Portland's meter maids may be, they pale in comparison to the "Fashion and Style" section of the NY Times, of which Modern Love constitutes the final circle. May God take his vengeance on all writers of Modern Love.

Hmmm...I wasn't going to comment, but I thought the story was sweet. I'm a sucker for that stuff.
And they're not "meter maids" they're "Parking Patrol." And I can't imagine what's "loathsome" about them. You park legally, you don't get a ticket, park illegally and you do...got a problem with that?

Sky: What is it about the "meter maids"? All I can figure is it may have something to do with the way some people, when they put on a uniform, become a law unto themselves and seem to lose perspective. I once had parking patrol give me a ticket when I got to my car at the same time he or she did. (I honestly don't remember if it was a man or a woman,it was a few years back). But I thought that was a bit officious.
