View from up north

Here's how the saga of Paul Allen, the Trail Blazers, and Portland is being perceived up in Seattle.

I love Vera's perspective: "I didn't have a lot of social interaction with him and never heard of anyone seeing him at museum openings or other places they went to." She had some interesting priorities, didn't she?

And the last sentence of the story is a lie. Allen's seat wasn't vacant. Steve Patterson's lovely guest was sitting in it, right next to Steve.

I just loved the Seattle Times story repeating the "public - private partnership" mantra.

The Oregonian editorial today (03/07/2006) bemoans the imminent death of "public private partnerships" in PDX if the city doesn't put up more bucks for Sam's Tram (rimshot).

I'm getting the sinking feeling that the next "public private partnership" that the Oregonian will be promoting is a bail out for the Trailblazers.

Ugh.
