Now hear this

Attention, citizens of Portland: I have been sworn in at a private ceremony and am now officially your mayor. As part of my assumption of control over all city bureaus, I am hereby taking over all the posting on this blog indefinitely, for up to the next six months.

I want to reconnect City Hall with all of the residents of the Rose City once again. And it's obvious that the best way to do this is to prevent the other four commissioners from taking any official action for a good long while.

I will be back in touch at some point. That is all.

We taking under/over numbers on how long he controls each dept? The assignments will be interesting to see who are/aren't in the Friends of Tom camp.

Dear Mr. Mayor, Good Luck, and may you do just as you posted.

It is time the real "folks" have a say.

Thank you, Jack. I am planning to give all Portlanders a chance, particularly those with mental illnesses who need to be transitioned back into our neighborhoods.

Dear Mr. Mayor:

Please note an email sent to Sam Adams.

50 have fled state mental hospital since '90

By Kirk Mitchell, Denver Post Staff Writer

Nearly 50 men and women held at the state psychiatric hospital for murder and other violent acts have escaped since 1990, a Denver Post investigation has found.
Seven of the patients were violent again after they fled the Colorado Mental Health Institute at Pueblo. One killed a motel clerk. Another cracked the skulls of his brother and sister-in-law with a sledgehammer, nearly killing them.

Two others beat up an off-duty police officer and stole his car. A fifth sexually assaulted a store clerk and tried to break her neck. Another was sent back to the hospital after attacking an elderly woman. Another fatally shot himself in the head with a stolen gun.

The escapes, The Post found, are at least partly the result of the hospital's conflicting obligations to treat criminally insane patients and, at the same time, protect the public from some of the state's most dangerous people.

Dear Mayor:

These people are here, in a grouphome next to a grade school in SE Portland.

The providors have used a good law to site them without regard to the safety of 400 little kids.
Commissonor Adams was deeply involved with me and the former mayor on this issue and can fill you in on my commonsense request/plea for something to help protect people.

Issues of confidentuality do not allow your officers who maybe called to places like this to protect themselves as well as those near.

Please, as I know you workload, look at this before a good law goes bad. Thanks, Jack Peek
