Someone above hit the nail on the head - there's already somebody slotted to fill this seat. One of the City Hall minions who is soon to be unemployed upon exipiry of the SamRand administration.
Probably, Frank, but my question is whether or not this person was already working at City Hall, and this is a great opportunity to boost a resume? Besides, correct me if this has changed, but didn't Sam Adams already work out a program where all CoP flacks laid off after he leaves still get six months' pay and benefits? I wonder if this is less an actual position and more an opportunity to get one more hipster a six-month vacation.
Someone above hit the nail on the head - there's already somebody slotted to fill this seat. One of the City Hall minions who is soon to be unemployed upon exipiry of the SamRand administration.
I would bet everything I have that it's someone hired from the mayor's staff. That's a no-brainer.

The first two pages are nearly exclusively government and pseudo government jobs and obviously the best paying. Schools, ESDs, universities, cities, and the semi public agencies that feed off them.
"The private sector is doing fine", some guy recently said.
I'm confused about the salary. It says 5k-6k, but does not mention if this is per annul, or, as Jack surmise, per month. Since when do job announcements not make a key detail like compensation clear?
Portland is subjecting all its thinking citizens to a slow, inexorable pogrom. Someone knocked on my door this evening. I was sitting next to the front door when they knocked. I called out "who is it?". "Oregon Action", came the reply. I try to stay nice, but at that moment, my response was like the highly irritated Englishman at home in in his castle. I yelled out: "Get out of here!", and the person complied. I felt kinda bad, because I know nothing about them, so I googled them. Of course, Oregon Action is a race hustling-guilt-tripping pump-up poison machine. I want to move, someplace post-racial. Barbados?

I guess people don't use spell check or proof what they write. Note the following:
"Applicants must mapply online"
Or, perhaps, this is a new term for the creative thinkers?

That's probably the future minimum cost-of-living here once the "planners" get done.

You missed the title:
"Human Relations Commission Public Information Porgram Coordinator"
Perhaps the new coordinator is supposed to conduct pogroms?

I have a few questions for those more familiar than I with city hall.
There's NO CHANCE there has already been an insider selected for this position and this posting is merely pro forma is there?
And does EACH commission and department have their own "Public Information Program Coordinator"?
NOW I understand why we have no money for police, fire & road repairs.

Random: Any bets that most city workers even know what a "pogrom" is? Good catch on the Freudian slip.

It's always instructive to note that this doesn't much play in the local media. Maybe they should go with Alan's idea.

Any shares of the City's equity would warrant junk bond status.

How many ways are there to discourage people from applying because they've already got someone picked out? How about:
This position will close when 100 applications are received or no later than November 16, 2012 at 4:30PM.
"We want everyone who is qualified, but will arbitrarily stop reviewing applications once 100 people apply."
W. T. F. ???

"Equity" (besides something you've probably lost in your house) is one of the insidious new thought-control words of the demo-leftist authoritarians.
Control the words: control the thought.

Don't worry - the City will likely start charging to park at Washington Park, and probably every neighborhood too. They'll find the money.
