They lean Democratic because they don't understand math, having been educated here, where math in school is not as important as Eco-trim around the low-e windows. It is in the school system's interest, of course, that no one understand math, otherwise their wasteful pillaging of public coffers might come under scrutiny.
On the horizon is some hope for math. It looks like Romney picked math whiz Paul Ryan, who actually has a budget that might keep the country solvent and prosperous. Not that the math-deficient masses will vote for him.
Maybe people have had enough of high unemployment, falling income, high gas prices, “skyrocketing” electric prices, traffic congestion, bike lanes, crappy schools, condo bunkers, tax increases to cover up money spent on condo bunkers, arts tax, library tax, high water bills, rainfall tax, crime, millions spent to create biotech jobs in Florida, young creatives, and child molesters in high office instead of jail.
I am supposed to care about what a leftist media mouthpiece like crooks and liars has to say about anything? Please name one instance where that blog has done ANYTHING to comment on the state of US education, other than to whine about not enough funding, while ignoring the culprit, which is the teaches' union, and the inability of schools to fire lousy teachers. Sacramento just laid off the teacher of the year because
there were cuts and she didn't have seniority.
Unions are ruining this country. Just the other day I find out that the library has new hours. They will close down at 5pm now. Cuts, I'm told. Well, cuts there may be, but why not shorten the hours by opening later in the day so kids can go to the library after school? Oh, that would place an unnecessary burden on the poor library workers, to have to work swing. Plus, the libraries would be more crowded, and the work more stressful. This kind of union-driven pandering to workers at the expense of the public's needs is outrageous. Try getting your kid to a public pool in the afternoons after school during the week. Oops, family swim starts at 7 pm (when the families are having dinner, being tied to that pesky biological clock thing, where kids get tired and cranky if they don't get enough sleep.) So unfortunate for the kids, but the five lifeguards guarding the pool have less to worry about.
I laughed when I saw Oregon was in the leaning left instead of full left category. The state is knee jerk to the left every election. Most the population just can't bring themselves to vote for anyone who has an "R" next to their name.
About the only way for Romney to win here is for the left to have such apathy towards Obama that they don't turn out to vote. Personally I would love for that to happen but highly doubt it.
Portland will vote D until it goes bankrupt. After that, they'll vote Green, or Socialist, which ever is most destructive to the economy. The average Portland voter is too stupid to understand basic economics. They figure that as long as they can pour coffee and sleep on the couch that the world is all good.
And which item in that lengthy list of Ryan's follies was reported erroneously? That's right, none.
It's too funny to hear the Guardians of Privilege (GOP) party trying to say that Dems are math challenged; three quarters of our total debt accrued under Saint Ronnie and the Boy BlunderBush, and most of what Obama has spent was necessitated by the need to try to haul the economy out of a ditch.

I'd like to point out that Oregon voted down gay marriage back in '04 (was it really that long ago?!). So although there are a lot of blue votes in the cities, I get the impression that most of the rest of the state is red.
So yes, the state leans blue, but not by the huge margins most city-dwellers assume.

Yeah, you're better off listening to the guy who thinks people won't vote for Obama again because they already voted once for a black guy.

Oregon does have a rather large Mormon population, but I don't think that's going to sway the election more than a half point.
