The football game was a rout, and so we clicked over to the second half of the first Blazer game of the season. We weren't a minute into it when we started to assemble our list of the many things we dislike about the Portland TV announcer duo.
When we realized what was happening, we just turned the sound off. Much better. We're not sure how much of the Blazers we're going to watch on TV this season, but how ever much it is, we think we'll continue to do it without the audio.

Back in the day, the trick used to be to put on the AM radio play by play, and then the TV on mute. Or, a vinyl jazz LP by, say, the Crusaders. I remember something about funny home-made cigarettes, too, but I've forgotten exactly what.
The radio trick doesn't work too well with the cable TV. The cable signal delays the game by several seconds, and so the radio guy (whom I like) is always ahead of the images on the screen.
Back when I was a Lakers fan (it's hard to believe I once was, but it was back in the Showtime era), we would turn off the national TV announcers and put on Chick Hearn.
On those occasions when I watch, it's always with the sound shut down. I've never understood why tv folks get paid to yak like they do. I don't watch any games with sound on.
With all the non-meaning bowl games on the tub, we get Brent Mushmouth for all the big games, how nice. Hey Brent shut the heck up once in a while, I don't really care what color socks the quarterback's great Gandpa wore the day he was married.
Couldn't stand Cosell on Monday night. I watched TV mute and listened to Buck and Stram, until the network got wise and messed with synchronizing the broadcasts.
The funny thing is that pro teams, including the Blazers, will waive players or fire coaches at any time -- beginning, middle or near the end of a season -- but they (or the broadcast company) never can lousy announcers or "color" guys that way unless they transgress socially (a la Jimmy the Greek) or criminally. How 'bout it? C'mon Blazers!
Back in the day, more people in Boston turned their TV down and listened to a.m. radio announcer Johnny Most than actually had the TV sound on. The sound delay is just criminal.

Only thing worse is the ducks radio announcers. I use DVR to record the blazers and then sync it up to the radio.

I agree. Mike R. is ok, he at least has a sense of humor. Mike B. stinks. Check your ego at the door dude!

I have league pass and have heard all of the local commentators. Portland's color guy is the worst in the business, by a mile.
