Mr. Jack Bog is showing a great deal of disrespect to the 3000 plus innocent Americans and the military men and women who have died due to Bin Laden with his flippant mocking topics regarding the joyous execution of OBL.... You are pathetic sir....
Over the years, Mr. Bogdanski and I have disagreed on any number of issues, and sometimes deeply. Heck, I've lost track of the number of times I've been "banned" and "un-banned" here (though there are ways around that). However, throughout it all, ups and downs, I've taken the following approach to this blog:
The front door's open. Come in, grab a seat, and visit. Don't crap on the carpet.
Today it is you and those of your ilk that I find pathetic.
Join in, chant with me, all together now: USA! USA! USA! USA!
Oh, doesn't it make you feel great?
You're really no different from those in Gaza and elsewhere who danced in the streets on 9/11.
And personally, I ain't gonna believe Osama's really dead until Trump forces Obama to produce a long-form death certificate.
While it leaves itself open to conspiracy theories such as what we're seeing here, it's the best solution. Here's why:
• Islamic law dictates that the body needs to be disposed of as close to death as possible
• Islamic law strictly forbids cremation
• Violating Islamic law with regards to his remains would be used as 'justification' by the fundamentalists to kill more people
• Burying him somewhere on land could give rise to a shrine of some sort - being kicked out of a helicopter in a weighted burlap sack over the Arabian Sea denies the opportunity.
• Burial at sea is perfectly acceptable under Islamic law.
Buried (disposed of) at sea -- where no crazies can visit it, host vigils, or create a shrine. Good idea. Now, which is the first media source to obtain and release the pictures of the body? These will be as sought after as Obama's birth certificate.
So going "Vlad the Impaler" on the Statue of Liberty with UBL's corpse not be permitted by Islamic Law? Gee, I thought that was an option after what happen to the four marines in Iraq whose burnt remains where hung from the bridge. My bad. Need to become more PC.
While not a street chanter myself, I can find sympathy and support for those with USA, USA boosterism. I can find it for several reason not least of which is it is un to anti ironic (although some can surely chew it into irony).
What I did and do find repellent was the mindless boosterism of O's god-like ascension to his throne and the unprecedented and mindless support of his administration in all mainstream news media. A free press in a self-induced thrall, that's got the whiff of irony
So how does this conspiracy theory work? If he isn't dead, is OBL in on it? Wouldn't he have made some sort of appearance by now if he were alive (and not in on it)?
Maybe the conspiracy is that they delayed the timing to Sunday night? Please explain, seriously.
Jack, if that's the case, there have been plenty of opportunities for them to use his death as a distraction from something besides Trump's reality show. Why wait? Sorry if I'm being naive.
Max,
A lot of media outlets have been making that slip, including, of course, Fox and NPR (ME) today. Some outlets have shifted to Usama bin Laden to forestall such errors. I have not yet heard "Obama bin Biden."
Let me get this straight: bin Laden was buried at sea out of respect for Muslim law, or out of concern for a shrine? Huh? Is there a word stronger than "stupid"?
If you were the US government and you killed bin Laden yesterday, would you (a)take photos and video showing his body and the location of the compound, publish evidence of DNA confirmation, and other supporting information, or
(b)attack and kill him, quickly load him into a helicopter, transport the body hundreds of miles, then quickly dump the body in the sea and issue a statement?
Mr. Jack Bog is showing a great deal of disrespect to the 3000 plus innocent Americans and the military men and women who have died
In fact, almost half of that number were not Americans, but people from many other countries working here. It's another myth of the 9/11 canon that "3000 Americans" died at the WTC.
other white meat: I spent a good long time searching for the data and the Wikipedia list was the best I could come up with. I don't contend that it's unassailable. I did find a CNN article from 2003 that put the number of foreign nationals killed in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks at "around 500." And many of the numbers on the Wikipedia table seem to check out -- a little Googling and you can find quite a few articles that verify the UK, Canada, India and Japan figures, which together make up the bulk of the total foreign nationals killed. But if you've got a good source that says there were actually an additional 1,000 or so non-Americans who perished in the attacks, I'd love to see it. I'm actually not invested in a particular figure. Whether it was a single American or 3,000, it was still a heinous crime. I went searching for the number because your assertion that almost half of the victims weren't Americans surprised me, and I was wondering where they all came from.

While it leaves itself open to conspiracy theories such as what we're seeing here, it's the best solution. Here's why:
• Islamic law dictates that the body needs to be disposed of as close to death as possible

Buried (disposed of) at sea -- where no crazies can visit it, host vigils, or create a shrine. Good idea. Now, which is the first media source to obtain and release the pictures of the body? These will be as sought after as Obama's birth certificate.
