With all respect to the cops on PPD who do not engage in this kind mistreatment of their prisoners: It appears to me that a certain 'core group' of sworn officers are responsible for a large amount of the problems PPD faces with the public. I respect the fact that cops face a much greater level of danger and the possibility of violence being done to them. At the same time, the end result has been a large part of the community that will not introduce the cops to a situation for fear of police violence being done. The City faces huge costs due to liability claims, and the saddest part is cops who truely take their duties responsibly are painted with the same brush as the psycho team. Yes, there are bad guys out there, but those numbers should not include the police. Rank and file cops need to police their own, too.
There has been a seriously corrupt element in the PPB for years - dating clear back to the Outsiders Motorcycle Clubhouse Raid (planted drugs) back in the 80's. No one has the political will in the face of Police Union strength to rein them in. Certainly not THIS mayor. Nice and Humphreys should be out of a job, but that won't happen.
At least in Phoenix, they were able to indict a corrupt cop. The video in the link should be shown to PPB officers as a "how to" on planting drugs. Bread crumbs won't get it done, folks.
I love all the comments: they're just doing this for the money. It spilled over here too, which is nothing surprising. As said, because it bears repeating: "The litigation is over. This is about making sure the public knows the truth."
This should also be a lesson why the public should absolutely demand that the police are not able to conduct their affairs in secret tribunals and stack their "oversight" bureaus with insiders. After all, if they have nothing to fear, why do they need to hide from real oversight? I guess we know why they're trying to hide from the public now.
Other stories I was unaware of at the time (10/19/17:00 on KBOO.fm evening news) I heard these lawyers reporting the evidence PPD cops murdered Chasse, and knowing Mayor Adams has done nothing to exterminate the guilty cops, is the reason I vow support to dump Adams. And whoever replaces him better clean out the PPD or else I vow support to dump the next mayor.
The "other stories" I am catching up with today sound to me strong enough to effect Adams's removal. Okay, (by me), then right result, but wrong reason.
And it ain't no 'police union' obscuration that is stopping or stops Mayor from indicting, trying, convicting and imprisoning cops guilty of murder.
Maybe CoP refuse to pay $1.6 million damages to Chasse estate, and so: specify the money must be paid by the cops at the scene. Then Court can collect the money from those named cops.
The individual FBI agents (and police accomplices) should have to pay the $2 million damages Brandon Mayfield won for false accusation and arrest, not taxpayers.

You and I are both attorneys - I don't know about you, but I am not likely to believe other attorneys, especially those that have litigation in mind.
