And now there's a second "major incident" out at 74th & Foster.

Jack:
I am one of the residents of the Lloyd Center Bulletproof Zone and I have lived in this area for the last five years. It is unbelievable the mini crime wave sweeping this little hamblet of Portland, Oregon. In the last year in this immediate area there has been a shooting at Lloyd Center (Gang related-March 2010), another shooting at a Chinese restaurant at 10th and Broadway (Gang related Summer 2009) and various other disturbances around my neighborhood (petty thief, car prowls, and vandalism) along with tonight's shooting at NE 6th and Clackamas !!
Obviously the Mayor, the new Police Chief, and the Portland Police Bureau have their work cut out for them in this volatile neighborhood. A quick suggestion to our friend Mayor Adams. Why doesn't he and the new Police Chief have a COMMUNITY MEETING in the Lloyd district to address this issue since crime seems to be so rampant in this area right now. It just might alleviate the fears that are beginning to build in this neighborhood with its' citizenry over our crime wave and it would help Mayor Adams and the new Police Chief's images with the community at large !!

Go by streetcar, Tom. That's far more important to the mayor than your personal safety.

Jack:
I forgot that is why the Mayor is decimating our neighborhood right now !! I can see it now armed escorts on the NE Portland streetcar line with their own Uzi's when they enter the Lloyd Center Bulletproof zone. Streetcar patrons will have the option of getting bulletproof vests issued to them upon entering the local area and will be returned to the streetcar operator upon leaving the Lloyd District !!

It's mostly about making real estate guys like Joe Weston rich. Yo would think that at his age and with his mega-millions, he'd stop raping and pillaging Portland neighborhoods and the city treasury. But no.
Posted by Jack Bog | May 12, 2010 9:15 PM
The other incident involves a dead male body found in the street at 74th & Steele. A "person of interest" has been arrested on that one.

I'm shocked that something like this could happen near the Lloyd Center. The drug dealers and homeless people all ride MAX, so the perp (who apparently was DRIVING) was probably a deranged Vancouver commuter.
I hope this incident will prove instructive as to why the boys in blue are trained to maintain control/distance during any traffic stop or encounter with visibly unstable citizens.

Jack:
Why stop Mr. Weston from making a decent living when he can turn every street corner in our great city into a four plex or a condo !! His slogan is like Starbucks' except you substitute condo, etc. for coffee house !!

Don't worry about this incident, Portlanders. Police Commissioner Adams was on the scene promptly.

keep moving folks...nothing to see here...
Now just go quietly in the box cars...I mean the train/trolley...

Bullets were flying indeed...
"A Radio Shack employee said a bullet flew across the street, ricocheted off the store's sign and landed on the floor of the store. Apparently, a customer picked it up and took it."
===
Damn tourists, always taking crime scene evidence, thinking they are just cool souvenirs.

FEAR NOT! Our Valiant Drop-Fly Liar-in-Chief & Police Commissioner is dashing to the scene, Tweeting all the way. For example:
"On my way to the scene." 3 hours ago etc.
His Dishonor's Twitter address is nice - "MAYORSAMADAMS" [his caps]. Leave off the terminal 'S' and it's truthier, on a couple of levels.
Posted by Morbius | May 12, 2010 10:31 PM
No, not really. He didn't really tweet "On my way to the scene" did he? Come on.
Posted by ep | May 12, 2010 11:34 PM
EP,
He did.

I hope he had his zipper closed when he got there. That's really what the police need, working a crime scene and twinkle toes shows up.

Having in a past life spent some time working alongside a division of another state's state police, all I can say is the Popo are stupid and reckless to have discharged their weapons that many times in an area with that many innocent bystanders.
And given the Popo's track record of shooting unarmed people, armed criminals are probably feeling like their best shot is to use their weapons, sad and dangerous for all of us, not just the Popo.

Here's something new. Portland police kill someone who actually presented a threat to their safety.
