Not surprisingly, Senator Ron Wyden (R-N.Y.) gets almost two thirds of his campaign war chest from outside Oregon. The $526,000 from New York City is particularly impressive.
David Wu's another one -- two thirds from out of state. Sadly, no statistics are kept on how much influence beings from other planets have on Wu.

Hmmm, I wonder why it's been so hard to get any financial reform...?
What ever happened to the concept of shame and conflicted interests?
shame
n.
1.
a. A painful emotion caused by a strong sense of guilt, embarrassment, unworthiness, or disgrace.
b. Capacity for such a feeling: Have you no shame?
2. One that brings dishonor, disgrace, or condemnation.
3. A condition of disgrace or dishonor; ignominy.
4. A great disappointment.
I attended an event some years ago in N.Y. where Wu was introduced as the other Congressman for N.Y. After the event, my wife and I happened to be the only persons on the shuttle bus with him and his aids. All I heard them talked about was how much money they had to defeat whoever wanted to run against him. We sat directly across from them and they talked as if we didn't exist. I used to think it was nice to have a Chinese American representing Oregon. Not after that evening.
When are people in Wu's District wake up and throw this worthless self-serving putz out of office? Oh I forgot - he has a (D) after his name on the ballot - so the sheeple will re-elect him once again.
Wu's isn't really an issue of influence, but rather an issue of people supporting him because of who he is.
He doesn't need to worry about fundraising because there are a large handful of (mostly NY) Asian-American businessmen who finance his campaigns because they see a cultural value in keeping an Asian-American in Congress.
Far less nefarious than The Great Gatsby. Or our junior senator, for that matter.
Speaking of Wyden, there he was the other day on the NY Times letters page, taking credit for Oregon's obnoxious law that made pseudoephedrine a prescription drug (thus forcing those of us for whom the OTC substitutes don't work to pay an extra $50 for a doctor's visit). Yes, it has curtailed meth production, but the reasonable laws other states have passed (requiring ID to purchase and severely limiting quantities) work just as well without gouging law-abiding allergy sufferers.

I don't see how the Ronmeister can whore for Wall Street. He's been too busy keeping the medical insurance and drug companies satisfied.

Well, when it comes to Wu there are only two things you need to know:
"There are Klingons in the White House".
"Nobody has time to read the legislation they are voting on".

Well, according to his public-funded mailers, Wu's been hard at work, creating jobs for us Oregonians.
You want fries with that?
Posted by Max | April 22, 2010 9:57 PM
Just like they said about robbing banks:
"You go where the money is"
C'mon people, let's save Ron from those boring flights to Oregon to talk to boring Oregonians.
