Repeat a lie 100 times, and it may start to sound like the truth. But how about if you stage a bike ride to reinforce it?
So it is with this City of Portland event. Look, Mayor, you're raiding the sewer budget for bicycle paths, because you were elected mayor, fair and square, and that means you can do that sort of thing. But please -- spare us the constant repetition of yet another lie you're trying to hide behind. Nobody, including you, believes that the bicycle plan and the sewers bear any reasonable connection to each other. And you know that.
It's this kind of bizarre behavior that makes you so darned creepy.

Maybe if they put a bike lane in that big underground sewer pipe...sort of a bike subway thing. It could be a raised bike path to keep riders out of the muck. (Or they could just decide to not use it for sewage afterall.) And they wouldn't have to worry about being hit by trucks or buses.
If Sam keeps supplying the lazy local media with inane stories like this, the press won't dig into the serious financial mess he and his buddies have created.

Repaving of Springwater Corridor Trail to begin in April
Work will likely cause periodic closures to sections of the popular trail through August
(Portland, OR) – Repaving of eight miles of the Springwater Corridor is anticipated to begin this April and likely continue through August. The work will require periodic closures of the trail between SE 28th Avenue, just east of the Three Bridges section, to SE 174th and Jenne Road near the border with the City of Gresham.
The repaving will involve laying a 2” porous asphalt overlay over the existing trail, as well as other improvements, including the replacement of wood and metal bollards in a new concrete band, replacement of trail and bollard signage, and new pavement markings, from the existing Union Pacific Railroad Bridge to the east city border.
The repaving is funded through a $1.8 million grant from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA).
Tell my why A "BIKE PATH" should ever need re-paving?
Wer don't have pot holes fixed, since recall failed, the wrath he will bring is up on us.
JP, very good question. Sam and Staff continually say that bike paths are essentially zero cost, they have no wear and tear. But like all things, even if not used, the elements deteriorate them creating costs. Citizens need to start calling out Sam and his entourage with all their false claims and spin.
Yes, even the simplest things of bike infrastructure, like all the bike stripping, color boxes, etc. don't cost much, nor require maintenance and sometimes rebuilding. Get Real Sam.
Begging you to post a series of questions for the so-called media to ask on the new city budget.
My contact in house will have a few as well. (and yes boys and girls, there is a natural born leader really near SAM, that is so P/O'ed, that person wants someones head on a platter)
Then being the retired "grumpy old man" I am...I WILL, take the time to get a list of challenge questions to the print media, and TV and radio ASAP, and then report who got what back to you all, and then you can take who to task for no guts.
